Disney delays 2 animation features: Pixar's "Soul" and Disney Animation's "Raya and the Last Dragon"
Coronavirus continues to wreak havoc on the 2020 theatrical animation schedule, with two more high-profile animation features now forced to delay their releases.
Disney-Pixar's Soul, from director Pete Docter, has moved from its June 19 release to November 20, a week before the Thanksgiving holiday.
This new date essentially takes over the release date of Walt Disney Animation Studios' Raya and the Last Dragon, which had been slated to drop November 25. Directed by Paul Briggs and Dean Wellins, Raya is redated to March 12, 2021, placing it in a busy spot inbetween another Disney animated feature, Ron's Gone Wrong (February 26) and Dreamworks Animation's Boss Baby 2 (March 26).
The postponement of Soul leaves Paramount's The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run as the sole 2020 summer theatrical animation release. That film was recently moved from May 22 to July 31.
