The new trailer for "Alita: Battle Angel" mixes a fully animated protagonist with a live actor

Fox has released a new trailer for Robert Rodriguez's hybrid film Alita: Battle Angel, which will be released in the U.S. on December 21, 2018.

The manga adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's Gunnm, Alita has a unique texture stemming from the fact that its title character, an amnesiac female cyborg, is a fully-animated cg character (created with the aid of motion capture), while the rest of the characters are predominantly live actors.

The film is produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau, and co-written by Cameron, Rodriguez, and Laeta Kalogridis.

From the studio synopsis:

Production costs on the film is estimated to cost between $180-200 million. Weta Digital is leading the visual effects and animation on Alita. Double Negative and Framestore are also working on the film.
