"Yellow Bird" (a kind of) opens today in US theaters

The nicely designed French CG feature Yellowbird, directed by Christian De Vita, opens in American theaters today, but as far as we know, the “American release” is just five theaters in the Detroit metropolitan area. The English trailer is below:

When we wrote about the TeamTO Studio-produced film earlier this year, we noted that it has a “a fascinating pedigree, but the sole review of the film in The Detroit News says, “Something may have been lost in the translation.” According to that reviewer, it's aimed strictly at 4-7 year olds.

Distributor Wrekin Hill Entertainment is handling the American release which was rewritten by Hoodwinked co-writer/co-director Cory Edwards and voiced by Seth Green, Danny Glover, Dakota Fanning, Christine Baranski, and Richard Kind. It will be released on DVD/VOD on April 7, 2015.

In France, the film will debut theatrically on February 4, 2015.
