Submit your work to the 45th Annie Awards
ASIFA-Hollywood has begun accepting entries for its 45th annual Annie Awards.
Honoring excellence in the field of animation, the Annies will be presented this year in nine production categories and 22 achievement categories. Additionally, up to 5 honorary awards may also be granted for lifetime accomplishments, philanthropy, technical advances, special achievement and meritorious service.
“I've been to several Annies and this by far is the fucking weirdest one ever,” Zootopia co-director Rich Moore said of the most recent ceremony, and while there's no guarantee that next year's will be quite as bizarre, there are always plenty of notably awkward moments at the Annies, which is to be expected when asking artists to wear tuxedos and pretend to be people that they're not.
Key changes in this year's rules:
To be eligible, a production must have been released in the United States between January 1-December 31, 2017. An exception is made for animated shorts, student films, special projects, and tv commercials that were not released in the U.S., and such projects may be considered for an Annie if they were originally released during the eligibility period anywhere in the world.
It costs $125 to submit each project (submission fees for student awards are $25). The deadline to receive submissions is Monday, October 20, 2017 by 5pm PST. For further rules and instructions on how to submit, visit the Annie Awards website.
