Studio Ghibli Movies will soon be available on the digital download-To-Own service

GKIDS announced this week that it will release the catalogue of Studio Ghibli films for digital download-to-own in the United States and Canada on December 17, 2019.

Ghibli titles will be available to purchase in both English and Japanese languages on major digital transactional platforms, including Apple TV, Amazon VOD, Vudu, Google Play, Sony, Microsoft, and Fandango Now. The news comes on the heels of GKIDS's recently announced U.S. streaming deal with HBO Max for the Ghibli films. The films will become available on HBO Max when the service launches in May 2020.

The films that will be available for download are the same ones that'll be available for streaming on HBO Max:

It has been erroneously reported by some media outlets that this is the complete Ghibli film library, however, with Isao Takahata's Grave of the Fireflies missing from the group, the collection is incomplete.

The digital HD downloads will carry a suggested retail price of $20 per film, with a six-film bundle of popular titles (Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away) offered for $100.
