Warner Bros. adapts the Ice Dragon, a children's story by Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin

Warner Animation Group (WAG) is developing an adaptation of Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin's The Ice Dragon.

It's a family film based on a pre-GoT children's novella that Martin wrote in 1980. The dragon-filled medieval fantasy follows the relationship between a young girl named Adara and a rare Ice Dragon, and their efforts to save Adara's town from an invading horde of dragons.

Martin will produce, and his manager Vince Gerardis will executive produce.

From the WAG side, the division's top execs Allison Abbate and Chris Leahy are overseeing the project.

WAG will next release Smallfoot in September 2018, followed by The Lego Movie 2 and The Billion Brick Race in 2019.

The news was first reported by Deadline.
