Dreamworks to announce "Everest", once again delayed "How to train your Dragon 3"

Dreamworks has again pushed back the release of How to Train Your Dragon 3, this time to March 1, 2019.

When the film was first announced in 2012, it was slated for release this year. It was later pushed back to 2017 and shifted again to 2018, before the most recent announcement that it held back until 2019.

Dreamworks has also announced a date-September 27, 2019-for a new film, Everest, which will come from its Oriental Dreamworks division. Set in the Himalayas, the story is about a lost young Yeti (named Everest) and a “group of misfits” who attempt to reunite him with his family.

Everest directing chores are being handled by Tim Johnson (Home, Over the Hedge, Antz) and Todd Wilderman (Open Season 2) from a script by William Davies (How to Train Your Dragon, Puss In Boots). Suzanne Buirgy (Home, Kung Fu Panda 2) will produce.

The original idea for Everest, which sounds somewhat different from the current iteration, was conceived by industry veteran and Open Season co-director Jill Culton, who was also slated to be the director of the film. It's not clear what, if any, involvement she has in the current film.
