DC anime content shares Canon with live-action titles say new boss James Gunn, Peter Saffron.

James Gunn and Peter Safran published a book on Warner Bros. on May 10 last year.It was announced as co-head of DC properties at Discovery.Since then, the world has wanted to know what it means.

In the meantime, some hints were removed and the new boss allowed the animation and game to play a bigger role in the upcoming big DCU. But on Monday this week, the new boss will be Warner Bros.We met with the press at studio lot and explained the DC Studio's long-term plans, including the role the medium will play beyond live action.

"Animation leads to live-action and goes back to animation," Gunn explained, "it's a way of telling a huge, huge story, but without spending, now, episode50 million."

This is the way DC has usually dealt with two mediums when DC has completely separated the universe of animation and live-action in the past. It is a deviation from the way. Also, unlike the way Marvel animation productions often refer to live-action versions at Disney, live-action films and series were largely unaffected by what happened in the animation.

Gunn showed in a video shared on Twitter on Tuesday that parts of the continent outside of DCU would continue to be produced - he dropped the name Teen Titans Go. - But it's clearly labeled as DC elsewhere to keep the audience from being confused.

In another departure from the current state of superhero production, Gunn indicated that a new emphasis was placed on writing and that the day of the movie rushing to hit the manufactured deadline was over in DC.

"People began to be seen on dates to make movies no matter what," he criticized. "I'm a writer in my heart and I'm not going to make a movie before the script is complete.

"The degradation of writers in Hollywood was a terrible story," he elaborated. "It's been much worse since I first moved here 23 years ago. Writers are left completely out of the loop in favor of actors and directors, and it's really important to us to make writers more prominent and important in this process."

The philosophy on gun deadlines and release dates, when applied to animation and vfx as well, will certainly be a welcome change to the current industry status quo, which many experts have said is unsustainable.

Along with a broader announcement on the long-term plan, certain upcoming titles, including the new animated series Creature Commandos, were also announced. The seven-episode series was the first greenlit under the new co–head, which has already been written in its entirety-by Gunn, and is currently in production.

The Creature Commando character was first published in 1980. In the original cartoon, the Monster of Frankenstein partnered with werewolves, vampires and gorgons to fight the Nazis during World War II.From a few details currently available, the new series looks quite different from its name and will feature at least one familiar DCU character from Gunn's 2021 film Suicide Squad, the Weasel 1.

Other characters in the series include Rick Flag Sr., Nina Mazursky, Dr. Lynn, Eric Frankenstein, and G.I.The robot is included, with Frankenstein's Bride appearing as the main character of the show. The cast of the characters can be seen above in the first artwork shared from the new series.

Stressing DC's commitment to an animated-live-action continuum, Gunn explained that actors cast to voice the characters of the show would also typically play the same role in live-action appearances of those characters in the future.

To be precise, viewers can see that the new DC content is still in the air and could change from project to project.

"If that makes sense, we have the ability to sell outside of HBO Max," Safran said during the presentation. "So we figure out for us if there are certain shows that offer better service elsewhere, or if hbo Max doesn't have real estate. But we like the idea of hosting shows on Amazon and Hulu and Netflix. It just widens the DC audience.

That statement echoed a shared sentiment in May of last year when WBD Television Group chairman Channing Dungey revealed that the company is close to finalizing a deal with Amazon for DC animated content, Creature Commandos seems likely to end up in Prime Video. This means that you will be able to get the most out of it.

"With animation, we were about staying in-house, but now we're doing it on a variety of platforms," Dungey said at the time, speaking at Content London, "HBO Max is the first stop, but we're closing a big deal with Amazon featuring DC-branded content with animation." We are in the process of doing so.”
