Why AMC and Netflix dropped the adult animated series - Pantheon and Inside work," and could come back to other places."
AMC Networks has pulled the plug on the adult animated sci-fi series Pantheon and removed it from the AMC+ platform, but has already produced the second season of the program
Why AMC Drops the Pantheon If it is already producing the financial struggle facing the second season, the Pantheon will be the first of its kind. The decision to drop the line was made a few months ago as part of a wider programming writer-off. In the SEC filing, AMC lists 300-4 billion cost〜cutting measures earmarked for "strategic programming evaluation" and 50-7500 million cost〜cutting measures for "restructuring costs.""Amc is experiencing disruption at the top, and in 2022/11, Christina Spade, CEO of Amc Networks, left the company after just 3 months in charge. James L.Dolan became interim CEO, and the company announced that "significant reductions" would be made. The Pantheon was a victim of these cuts, along with live-action shows such as 61st Street, Demascus, and Invitation to A Bonfire.
Why did Netflix drop in the job immediately after the update - the "Why" here - is difficult to identify because there is no SEC record to confirm anything, and Netflix has not made a public statement about the cancellation of the show. The inside job dropped by the streamers is a surprise given that the show was renewed for Season 1 on May 2, 2022, just before Part 6 of Season 2 was released. But with Netflix dropping a large number of confirmed titles in 2022, it's hard to be shocked by such a cancellation.
Who was hurt by these cancellations - the fans are hurt, of course, but what is really suffering is the artists who have devoted months and years of their lives to these series. Ignoring the emotional toll of spending countless hours on projects that will never be seen, artists rely on their latest work to find their next project. When episodes, seasons, or movies are shelved by studios – who own rights and can keep titles under lock and key – the people who worked on them have nothing concrete to show for their efforts. Veteran tv producer Carina Adly Mackenzie commented on the issue on Twitter:
The best comparison I can do is almost the same as if I wanted to be a restaurant manager, so I worked in a restaurant for 1 year and did everything I was told, and corporate said, "Thank you for a great job, but I can't put it on my resume this year.""There is only this hole. Oh, you were paid. But you now have nothing to show for the experience you have.
What do the shows have in common - both were ambitious animated series with high production value. They also featured rich and complex stories directed at an adult audience. Each featured several near-future sci-fi aspects, and both boasted a cast of big-name voices that probably didn't help with budgeting. The cast of Inside Job included Lizzie Caplan, Christian Slater, Clark Duke, Andrew Daley, Bobby Lee, John Dimaggio, Tisha Campbell and Brett Gelman. The Pantheon cast includes Daniel de Kim, Paul Dano, Taylor Schilling, Rosemary Dewitt, Aaron Eckhart, Ron Livingston, Chris Diamantopoulos, Raza Jaffrey, William Hart (the last role before his death) and others. It was. Sadly, with so many platforms removing animated content, it seems unlikely that any of these fan-favorite series will be saved. In the case of Pantheon AMC, fans should not give up hope yet, as the SEC filing stated that "the company may realize future licenses and other revenue related to some of the titles it owns." With Inside Job, fans can at least watch Season 1 on Netflix.
Reaction: Inside Job creator Shion Takeuchi confirmed the show's cancellation on social media, lamenting what might have been if she and her team had been allowed to finish their story:
I'm heartbroken to confirm that Netflix has decided to cancel the Inside Job for Season 2. Over the years, these characters have become real people for me, and I'm devastated that I can't see them grow up. Reagan and Brett got their ending and finally deserved to find happiness. And I would have loved to have been able to share with all of you what was in the store.
Thank you all for watching. I'm sad, but it helps to know that there are people who care about these characters as much as I do.
