Netflix and Disney have dominated the nominations with the first ever Children's & Family Emmys.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced the nominees for the first・ever Children's Family Emmy Awards, which will be held at the Wilshire Ebel Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday 12-10 and Sunday 12-11. Many of the honors on the show for this new award were previously handed out as part of the Daytime Emmy Awards.

This is not news to anyone who works in animation, but according to the Academy, child and family content has seen the most growth of all its recognized categories, with an increase of 2% in output over the past 23 years. The first edition received nearly 3,000 submissions, making it the biggest competition overseen by NATAS.

"After years of unparalleled growth in the quality and quantity of content in this area, it is an exciting moment for the television industry to shine a spotlight on children and family programming," said Adam Sharp, President and CEO of NATAS. "These programs entertain, inform and educate families of all ages, and NATAS is proud to mark this milestone event and give these creators a worthy stage.

Netflix walked away with the 4 most nominated titles in the animated series and special, with Maya and 3 getting 5 nominations, Ghost City, Hilda and King of the Mountains, and then went. go, corey carson has 4 notches each. Disney+'s Luca short Ciao Alberto also received 4 nominations.

Netflix also received 46 nominations from categories that featured animation programming, with top nominations across the animation platform or across the network. (In our methodology, we've counted all categories of animation and vfx, hybrid categories, and those with live-action content with rich animation sequences.)

Following the distant 2nd place Disney, it pulled 27 nominations between its channel and the Disney+ platform. After another big drop, Warner Bros. Discovery notched 8 combined nominations between HBO, HBO Max, Cartoon Network and Boomerang. Other companies with multiple nominations: Nickelodeon (7), Apple TV+ (6), PBS (7), Hulu (4), Paramount+ (3), Peacock (3), and Amazon Prime Video (2).
