"Son of Zorn," an animated/live-action TV comedy in which a barbarian warrior fights his enemies over a boring office job. [Deadline reports that "The Lego Movie" directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller's latest project wrapped pilot production at Fox last week. Actors Jason Sudeikis, Cheryl Hines, Tim Meadows, and Artemis Pevdani join Johnny Pemberton in the deconstructed fantasy of Son of Zorn. The animated warrior of the same name (voiced by Sudeikis) struggles with suburban mediocrity after being reunited with his live-action son, played by Pemberton, and ex-wife Edie, played by Hines.

With Lord and Miller on board as executive producers, this high-concept setting could prove promising if given a freewheeling and entertaining spin like the similarly high-concept and highly successful "Lego." The ambitious production by showrunners Reid Agnew ("Crank Younger") and Eli Joan ("Wilfred"), executive producer Seth Cohen ("Last Man On Earth") and director Eric Appel ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine") The ambitious production will come in very handy, as these shows are not particularly well known. [Lord and Miller, in particular, are working on sequels as well as a Han Solo feature and a widescreen adaptation of DC Comics' lightning-fast hero The Flash. Let's hope the comedic hijinks of "Son of Zorn" is serious enough to compete with Lord and Miller's multiple projects. Stay tuned.
