Entertainment Tonight has obtained new footage from Disney XD's "Guardians of the Galaxy" series. Watch it below:

Another short snippet was also released last week:

The series unfortunately bears little resemblance to the attractively designed and lovably inked test footage released at last fall's New York Comic Con. Thankfully for Disney, however, the bar has been set very low for American action-adventure animation, and fans online have already praised the show's quality over other Marvel series airing on Disney XD.

Marvel's description of the series:

The series follows a newly formed team that discovers a strange artifact keyed solely to Peter Quill's DNA. Upon opening it, Quill unleashes a treasure map that leads to a powerful weapon called the Cosmic Seed, which can give birth to the next universe. It is up to the Guardians to find, protect, and ultimately destroy the Cosmic Seed to save the universe from falling into the hands of those who seek to misuse its power, including the galactic overlord Thanos, the fraudulent brothers The Collector and The Grand Master, the revived Ronan, and the ultimate trickster Loki.

A series of animated shorts related to the series will air on Disney XD beginning tomorrow, followed by a sneak peek on September 5 and a one-hour series premiere on September 26.

The show's supervising director is Leo Reilly (supervising director of "Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United" and technical director of "Sofia the First" and "Tron: Uprising"), exec. Producers are Jeph Loeb (President of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Marvel Television), Alan Fine ("Iron Man" and "Thor"), Dan Buckley ("Hulk" and "Agents of S.M.A.S.H ."), Joe Quesada ("Avengers Assemble").
