Powerpuff Girls" to be rebooted in 2016
Cartoon Network is bringing back "Powerpuff Girls" as a regular series, the network announced Monday at the 2014 Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.
No word yet on whether the show's creator, Craig McCracken, will be involved in the new series, or whether it will be CG, like the "Dance Pantsed" Powerpuff Girls special that debuted earlier this year on Cartoon Network.
However, the network is excited to let us know that the relaunch will be accompanied by a "full licensing program." Says Pete Yoder, vice president of North American consumer products for Cartoon Network Enterprises. With proven success and a great content plan, there are a lot of possibilities that we look forward to exploring with our licensing partners in the coming weeks." Pete Yoder, vice president of North American consumer products for Cartoon Network Enterprises, added, "The show is one of the network's top brands, with over $2.5 billion in retail sales in the past 16 years, much of it in fashion and apparel.
