Netflix's "Scrooge: A Christmas Carol" Makes Top 10 Streamers Worldwide

Netflix's animated feature films struggled to break into the streaming world's top 10 this year, but with "Scrooge: A Christmas Carol," the trend finally reversed. [Henry Selick and Jordan Peele's "Wendell & Wild," Nora Twomey's "My Father's Dragon from Cartoon Saloon," Richard Linklater's "Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age While not as well known as Childhood, Scrooge: A Christmas Carol, by making the list, achieves what none of these films could.

Released on December 2 on the same platform, the film was #9 on the streamer's weekly World English language film list (November 28-December 4) with 8.17 million hours of viewing time.Scrooge made the weekly top 10 in six territories: Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Slovakia, and Ukraine. . In terms of viewing time, Netflix's animated films regularly benefit more from being familiar than from being good: Marmaduke, Riverdance: Marmaduke, Riverdance: The Animated Adventure and The Boss Baby, each of which made the Top 10 in 2022.

"Scrooge" was directed by Stephen Donnelly and produced by Timeless Films in association with Axis Studios.

Not all Netflix original features are struggling to make the top 10, however. Not only did Chris William's The Sea Beast spend several weeks in the top 10 this summer, but the maritime adventure also became Netflix's most-watched animated original film.

Netflix also has yet to release its most-watched original animated feature of 2022, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio. We will certainly track the performance of that film.
