No Dogs or Italians Allowed" and "Titina" top the Tokyo Anime Awards Festival

The Tokyo Anime Awards Festival ceremony took place this week, with two feature films and four short films receiving awards.

In the feature competition, the winners were "No Dogs or Italians Allowed" and "Titina. Alain Uget's stop-motion immigrant story "No Dogs or Italians Allowed" won the Grand Prix, while Kaisa Ness's 2D family feature "Titina" received the Award of Excellence. The other two films screened in Competition were "My Grandfather's Demons" by Nuno Beato and "My Love Affair with Marriage" by Signe Baumane.

In the Short Film Competition, "Borderline" won the Grand Prix, "The Fox Queen" won the Award of Excellence, "Swinging at the Moon" won the Toshima Ward Award, and "Three Gut Roads, Fish Island" won the Student Film Award.

This year's feature film competition received 31 submissions from 26 countries and regions, and the short film competition received 872 submissions from 63 countries and regions. And 4 feature films and 29 short films were selected to be screened at the festival.

The jury for Tokyo Animation's feature-length animation was made up of producer Fukashi Azuma ("Gintama", "Naruto Shippuden"), director Ryuichi Kimura ("Gurren Lagann", "Beyblade"), and director Cesar Cabral ("Bob Spit - People Hate What They See", "Storm"), journalist Helly Kim served.

The jury for animated short films included director Kenji Kodama ("Cat's Eye," "Detective Conan"), producer Tetsuro Satomi ("Galaxy Angel," "Samurai Champloo"), director Charlie Belan ("Le Coin," "Funny Birds"), and Canadian National Film Production Agency's Director of Festival and Audience Development Elise Labbé was named to the list.
