Epic Games Announces Metahuman Animator, a Potential Game Changer for Automated Facial Animation and Lip Sync

Epic Games has announced a new module for the Metahuman platform called Metahuman Animator.

This new technology eliminates the need for custom facial motion capture technology and can be achieved using only the iPhone. The unedited animation output through the Unreal Engine is nuanced and refined, providing a framework that animators can further tweak and refine. for the purposes of games and series that require large outputs of CG animation, this technology is has great potential to be a game changer. [The software was announced at the ongoing Game Developers Conference in San Francisco; Metahuman Animator is scheduled for release in the coming months and will be part of the Metahuman plug-in for the Unreal Engine.
