Academy Announces 2023 Student Academy Award Winners

The Student Academy Awards jury has announced the 14 winners of this year's 50th annual awards.

According to the Academy, this year it received 2,443 submissions from 720 universities around the world. Ten animated short films were nominated this year.

By winning the Student Academy Award, each film qualifies for the next Academy Awards. Last year, Lachlan Pendragon's "An Ostrich Told Me The World Is Fake And I Think I Believe It" went from winning a Student Academy Award to an Academy Award nomination.

This year's 14 winners will be invited to an awards ceremony on October 24 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, where they will learn who the gold, silver, and bronze winners in each category are.
