GLAS Animation Festival Announces Competition Section

The Berkeley, California-based GLAS Animation Festival has announced its Official Competition Selection, as well as the short films for the Children's Competition, U.S. Competition, and International Showcase short films.

Ninety-three films were selected from over 3,400 submissions, and GLAS' extensive program overlaps in some respects with the short animation program of the recent Park City festival: Ana Nedeljkovi? and Nikola Majdak's "Untravel, Andre Hormann and Anna Samo's "Obon" (pictured above), Tomek Popakul's "Acid Rain" will screen at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, Martina Scarpelli's "Egg," Nienke Deutz's "Bloeistraat 11, Amanda Bonaiuto's Hedge was selected for Slamdance.

In addition to the screening program, GLAS hosts panels, workshops, installations, networking events, and numerous parties with internationally acclaimed industry professionals. Now in its fourth year, the festival has become a hotspot for the U.S. animation community, proving that the independent spirit lives on in the West Coast scene of an industry powerhouse.
