Peppa's Cinema Party" opens worldwide today in celebration of the franchise's 20th anniversary.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the hit kids' series Peppa Pig, Trafalgar Releasing will release "Peppa's Cinema Party" in theaters worldwide beginning today.
This is not a Peppa feature film, but a collection of 10 previously unreleased episodes from season 10 of the series, including a three-party wedding party special. The screening will also include a bonus party bus episode and a new interactive segment in which Peppa and her friends invade the real world with a mix of animation and live action.
Releasing episodes of the series together in theaters is nothing new, and has recently proven quite profitable for several distributors. Last week, for example, Fathom Events released the first three episodes of the fourth season of its faith-based series The Chosen in theaters, and the package grossed approximately $6 million. Last year, Crunchyroll's theatrical distribution of a group of episodes of the "Demon Slayer" series grossed $10.1 million in a single weekend. The Sony-owned animation distributor is scheduled to release another batch of "Demon Slayer" episodes in theaters on February 23.
When Peppa Pig's theatrical release was announced last November, Esra Kuffer, Hasbro's Senior Vice President of Global Brand Management, said:
"As we celebrate 20 wonderful years of creating memories with Peppa, our team is bringing Peppa Peppa's Cinema Party" on big screens around the world. Peppa is encouraging children and families around the world to confidently dive in together, and this new cinematic experience will bring these beloved characters to life in a new way.
Twenty years later, Peppa remains one of the most popular children's franchises: according to Netflix's ratings data for the first half of 2023, seasons 1-6 of Peppa Pig have been viewed for 276 million hours. This was the fourth most of any animated series, and all of the preceding titles had more seasons available for viewing.
