Veteran Animation and Motion Design Team Launches Collision Awards

The group of entertainment industry executives behind the Telly Awards over the years has joined forces with professionals in the animation and motion graphics industries to launch the Collision Awards. The first of these awards, scheduled for this July, is now open for submissions. [The Collision Awards were founded by the executive team behind the Telly Awards, which have been honoring television (and more recently streaming) productions since 1979; Animation Magazine; Animation World Network, Several media and event organizers have partnered with the awards, including Animation Magazine, Animation World Network, Animation Nights New York, Motion Plus Design, SIGGRAPH ACM London, Skwigly, Stash Magazine, View Conference, and Wetransfer. partnerships with this award.

Randeep Khatari has been named general manager of the awards. Most recently, he was creative manager at Netflix, where he oversaw animated films and series. What categories do the Collision Awards cover - The Collision Awards stand out for the quantity and breadth of awards offered. In total, the Collision Awards offer more than 300 awards. This is in contrast to the animation industry's longstanding major awards ceremony, the Annies, which has 32 categories.

Eligibility: animation and motion design works from around the world created within the past two years, from January 1, 2022 to the final submission deadline of April 19, 2024 There is no limit to the number of works an artist may submit, but there is a per-work submission fee.

The cost of submitting to the Collision Awards varies depending on the type of work and the timing of the submission; early bird prices, valid through March 8, are $225 for general submissions, $275 for series/campaigns, $50 for students, and $125 for experimental. In comparison, the early deadline entry fee for Annie's is $150 for general entries and $50 for student entries.

When the awards will be given and how they will be distributed-the winners will be announced in July. According to the organizers, it has not yet been decided whether the awards will be presented in person or online. This is another major difference between the Collision Awards and Annie's.
