Linda Simensky has been promoted to Head of content at Pbs Kids.

Linda Simensky, a longtime Pbs executive, has been promoted to a new role: Head of content, PBS Kids.

She was previously Vice President of Children's Programming.

Simensky's expanded role shows that pbs is focused on non-broadcast media. According to the statement, she will "lead a new, experimental approach for emerging platforms to engage children and support their learning, and develop a slate of content that represents the next generation of children."

Don't worry - children's content is not being pulled from the TV. Simensky will continue to oversee the primary channel of the PBS station and the pipeline of children's programs on the PBS Kids24/7 channel. She still reports to Lesli Rotenberg, Chief Programming Executive and General Manager for Children's Media and Education.

She's been at pubcaster since 2003, and at that time she's developing a range of shows. They include Odd Squad, Dinosaur Train and Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood (inspired by the iconic Mister Rogers' Neighborhood-They all won Emmys. She had a cameo on pbs Kids' Word Girl. According to Pubcaster, the show Simensky has been working on has reached 2,8% of all children aged 72 to 1,090 in the United States on television, with 1,090 million users per month across the digital platform.

Prior to joining Pbs, Simensky worked for Cartoon Network for 8 years. As Senior Vice President of original animation, he shepherded shows such as Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, and Samurai Jack to the screen. She began her career at Nickelodeon, where she helped build the animation department during her 9-year tenure and helped launch the popular series "Rugrats", "Doug" and "Ren & Stimpy Show".

Simensky has lectured at numerous universities and animation festivals and is currently teaching university courses on animation topics at his alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania.
