Canadian Screen Awards 2023: All Nominees for Animation, VFX and Video Games

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television has announced the nominations for the 2023 Canadian Screen Awards.

Unfortunately, the Canadian Screen Awards do not have a category for animated feature films, but this year's short animation competition boasts an impressive lineup. The National Film Board of Canada (NFB), as in previous years, is a major contributor to this year's category; the NFB is represented by three of the five nominated shorts, Wendy Tilby and Amanda Forbis's The Flying Sailor, Jermaine Arnattaujuk, Neil Christopher and Louise Flaherty's "Arctic Song" (co-produced with Taqqut Productions Inc.), and Marta Pajek's "Impossible Figures and other stories I" (co-produced with Animoon). Other nominated films were "The Shadow Of My Life" by Hajar Moradi (produced by Vivid) and "Triangle of Darkness" by Marie-Noëlle Robidas-Moreau (produced by Embuscade Film).

The 2023 Canadian Screen Awards will be held at Toronto's Meridian Hall from Tuesday, April 11 to Friday, April 14, with seven themed awards ceremonies; the Shaw Rocket Fund's Children & Animation Awards will be held on April 12; the CBC and CBC Gem will televise the final Canadian Screen Awards presentation, hosted by Samantha Bee, on Sunday, April 16.
