Crunchyroll's New Documentary Program Celebrates 25th Anniversary of "Fullmetal Alchemist" and "My Hero Academia" Studio Bones

"Bones 25: Dreaming Forward," a new documentary from legendary Japanese animation studio Bones, is available today on Crunchyroll.

The documentary's release coincides with the Crunchyroll debut of "Metallic Rouge," produced by the Tokyo-based studio.

"Dreaming Forward" is a four-part documentary that looks at the history and culture of the studio behind such classic anime films and series as "Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heaven's Door," "My Hero Academia" and "Fullmetal Alchemist": Brotherhood

. According to studio head Masahiko Minami,

we wanted to create a place where new expressions, new genres, and new themes could be found through creation. Looking back, it is with great joy and gratitude that I rediscover the work I have created with my wonderful colleagues.

Minami (president), ONE (author, "Mob Psycho 100"), Shinichiro Watanabe (director, "Cowboy Bebop"), Kafka Asagiri (author, "Stray Dogs"), Hiroshi Izubuchi (concept author, series composition, "Metallic Rouge"), Motonobu Hori (director, "Metallic Rouge"), and more than 30 others from the studio's history participated in four episodes.

"Dreaming Forward" is produced by Crunchyroll and the French company Deltarocket and directed by Jace, who has produced over 40 documentaries for French and international broadcasters, including Canal+, Arte, M6, TCM
