France's César Nominations Announced: Animated Feature Films and Animated Short Films

Nominations for the 41st César Awards, France's national film prize, were announced last Wednesday. The awards include two animation-related categories, feature and short, and only French films are eligible.

In the feature film category, three films were nominated: Simon Rubey's experimental CG/mixed media work "Adama," Mark Osborne's CG/stop-motion hybrid "The Little Prince," Christian Desmar and Frank Ekinci's hand-drawn The steampunk sci-fi "April and the Extraordinary World".

Paramount plans to release "The Little Prince" in the U.S. next month, while GKIDS has secured North American distribution rights to "April and the Extraordinary World" and will release it later this year.

The four nominated shorts were chosen from this short list of 12 films.

The awards will be presented on February 26 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. For the full list of animation nominees, click here:
