Number of registered users of "Disney+" exceeds 10 million.

With so many providers already crowding in, are consumers willing to take advantage of yet another streaming service - if the streaming service is called "Disney+," the answer is a resounding "yes.

One day after its launch, The Walt Disney Company reported that it had already reached 10 million sign-ups. In light of these numbers, Netflix, the largest streaming service, has 158.3 million subscribers worldwide, 60.6 million of which are in the U.S.

Netflix considers all subscribers paying customers, but Disney's first 10 million It should be noted that not all may be paying subscribers. This is because Disney's numbers likely include a significant number of one-year free subscriptions distributed to some Verizon customers as part of their distribution agreement with Verizon.

The carrier said that 17 million accounts are eligible for the one-year Disney+ promotion and that it expects "a significant number" of them to take advantage of the offer.

It will be some time before the company knows exactly how many people are actually going to pay for their Disney+ accounts, but for now, the early news of 10 million total subscribers has investors excited. The company's stock rose more than 7% on Wednesday, hitting a new high for the year.

Going forward, Disney does not plan to release Disney+ subscriber data outside of its quarterly earnings announcements. Analysts currently estimate that Disney+ will have 90 million subscribers in five years.
