World Premiere of Looney Tunes film "The Day the Earth Became a Star" in Annecy

Warner Bros. Discovery has announced its programming plans for the Annecy Animation Festival.

Highlights include the premiere of Warner Bros. animated feature "The Lord of the Rings," the reboot of "The Amazing World of Gumball," and the making of DC's event series "Creature Commando," but exciting for many announcement would be the world premiere of The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie.

Given the drama surrounding "Coyote vs. Acme," another Looney Tunes feature completed by the studio, it is a relief to know that "The Day the Earth Blew Up" will not follow the same uncertain path. The key difference is that this Duffy/Porky film is a much less expensive 2D animated film than the expensive CG/live-action hybrids. Warner Bros. has entrusted the worldwide theatrical release of the film to U.K. distributor GFM Animation, an unusual approach for the company, but one that has helped bring the film to the public.

Directed by Pete Braungart, who directed the wonderful return of the Looney Tunes animated shorts and created "Uncle Grumpa," this buddy comedy marks the feature directorial debut of Porky Pig and Daffy Duck as Earth's only hope against the threat of an alien invasion ...]
