Emmy Award Nominations 2017: click here for the animation category

The nominations for the 69th annual Emmy Awards, presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, have been announced.

In the animation category, four of the five programs selected were also nominated in 2015 and 2016: for “Archer,” “Bob's Burgers,” “The Simpsons,” and “South Park. The only new nominee in this category is the special episode of Sofia the First, “Elena and the Secret of Avalor.”

In the animated short film category, there are more surprises this year, with two first-time nominees: Warner Bros. Animation's “Teen Titans Go! and Marvel Animation and Passion Animation Studios' “Rocket & Phantom Thief Gruff”. Warner Bros. Animation's “Teen Titans Go! and Marvel Animation Studios' “Rocket & Phantom Thief Gru: Adventure Time,” “Disney's Mickey Mouse,” and “Steven Universe.”

The full list of nominees in the animation-related categories is below. In addition to these nominees, Lucasfilm Animation's “Star Wars Rebels,” which airs on Disney XD, was nominated in the children's programming category.
