UK Kids Content Distributor Cake to Acquire Competing Distributor Jetpack

Two leading international children's television distribution companies are merging, with negotiations currently underway for Cake to acquire competitor Jetpack. Both companies are based in London.

Terms of the deal have not yet been finalized.

Cake is the older of the two companies. In addition to distributing children's content, it also develops, finances, and produces programming.

The company distributes 1,600 half-hour animated and live-action content; it is involved in shows such as Angry Birds (Netflix): Summer Madness (Netflix), Supa Team 4 (Netflix) with Triggerfish Animation; Angelo Rules (France Télévisions, Canal+, Super RTL) with TeamTO; Space Chickens in Space (Disney EMEA) with Anima Estudios; and Pablo (CBeebies) with Paper CBeebies) with Paper Owl.

Jetpack, launched in 2014 by Dominic Gardiner, offers over 1,900 hours of content. Its library includes dozens of animated series, including Becca's Bunch, Chugginton, Clangers, Claymotions, Alice's Diary, and Viking Skool.

"Since the launch of Jetpack, they have always been a competitor we respect," Cake CEO Ed Galton said in a statement." Our combined operations provide an even better child and family delivery solution for this market."
