Paramount's Comedy Central Signs Licensing Deal to Air Disney's “Family Guy”
Comedy Central has acquired the rights to air library episodes of Seth MacFarlane's series “Family Guy,” marking the first time ever that the series will air on a Paramount-owned platform.
The series will launch on Comedy Central with an all-day marathon on Labor Day (September 2) and join the primetime lineup on Tuesday, September 3. We are excited to welcome [Family Guy] to Comedy Central as one of the best adult animated features alongside the likes of 'South Park,' 'Futurama' and 'Beavis and Butt-Head,'” said Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks,” said Laurel Weir, executive vice president and head of programming for Showtime/MTV Entertainment. Delivering bold, irreverent, and culturally impactful content to our fans is our top priority, and Family Guy is the perfect complement to our strong adult animation slate.”
The licensing agreement was signed with Disney Entertainment. The agreement does not affect Family Guy's schedule on other platforms, and Disney will continue to produce the show through its 20th Television Animation unit.
