Netflix's “Blue Eye Samurai” and “Big Mouth” Triumph at Creative Arts Emmy Awards
The first half of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards took place Saturday evening in Los Angeles, with Netflix winning the two major (and only) animation categories, Animated Programming and Character Dubbing, the first time Netflix has won both categories in the same year. Netflix won both categories in the same year for the first time.
The streamer's CG action series “Blue Eye Samurai” won for outstanding animated program for the episode “The Tale of the Ronin and the Bride. The series was nominated against two other regular nominees, “The Simpsons” and “Bob's Burgers,” as well as Max's “Scavengers Reign” and Disney+'s “X-Men '97.” for Netflix, after winning for “Arcane” in 2022, This is its second overall win in the category.
The six winners for BLUE EYE SAMURAI were Michael Green (executive producer/director), Amber Noismi (executive producer/writer), Erwin Stoff (executive producer), Jane Wu (director/producer), Nick Read (producer), Michael Greenholt (writer director).
Upon receiving the award, Nozumi, co-creator of the series, applauded Netflix for investing in original animation, stating in his speech, “If you don't bet on originals today, you won't have a franchise tomorrow.” [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...]
