Co-creator of "Eke" and "Cat" Bill Cop has abandoned the studio to make his own series "Dumb Bunny & Jackass" (exclusive).

Dumb Bunny & Jackass, the latest work from the original Simpsons Animator, Eek's distorted mind. Cat co-creator, and Shnookums and Meat Funny cartoon show creator Bill Cop, will get its public debut at this year's Los Angeles Comic Con on 12/3. Ahead of the show's La Comic Con bow, Kopp gave Cartoon Brew exclusive access to its first Dumb Bunny & Jackass promotion.

Dumb Bunny & Jackass is an idea that Kopp has been developing since 2005, sometimes in the background and sometimes full time. After spending most of the past 10 years developing several productions for major studios, Kopp decided to ditch the studio's production model and start making Dumb Bunny & Jackass all by themselves.

"From 2014 to 2021, it was a great project in a great studio that never went anywhere before," Kopp said of Cartoon Brew. "Some were original, some were hired, but by the time the last one was over, I didn't know if I wanted to do it anymore."

That last 1 is Amazon's Crash Bandicoot series, which says Kopp is great, and we still don't know exactly why it was canned.

"That was the straw that broke the back of this old camel," he lamented. "We've been working on it for about 1 year and we've been working on development for 1 year through the pandemic. It was sold to Amazon, and then for some strange reason Activision just pulled out and said we're not doing it anymore.

At that time, Kopp knew that there was no more time for modern studio animation.

"I'm 60 years old this year. The clock is ticking. I'm here on earth to make funny cartoons. That's all. That's what I care about. That's my passion and that's what I do. And these guys were disturbing me," he said.

So, Kopp put away his paintbrush and pencil, bought a computer, and with a lot of help from Youtube teacher Okay Samurai, began teaching Adobe character animators. After months of learning shortcuts, playing with new tools and learning how to adapt his skill set for digital production, Kopp says of Dumb Bunny & Jack

"I was surprised" he put together the first few episodes. "From writing to finished animation, it only took 10 weeks for a 5-minute cartoon.

And the Cup really did it all. From storyboards to animation, editing and voice acting. To fill in the voice cast of Dumb Bunny & Jackass, the series he recruited some friends and colleagues from his extensive network of animation experts, including John Bailey (Animaniacs), Martin Olson (Adventure Time), Eric Bauza (Rooney Tunes), and others.

The show turns on The Dumb Bunny and his best friend and roommate Jackass, who lives in a dilapidated hut owned by a heartless billionaire. The duo will be tied to all sorts of schemes and adventures with neighbors like Pinky Pig, Tequila Mockingbird and Van Nuys native Bigfoot.

The can already has 5 episodes and the cup is not over yet. Thanks to the ease and inexpensive nature of the production of the show, he is a small team of independent animators, the show will be much longer and will replace the production of studio models true

"Imagine that you are a painter and want to paint, but every canvas will cost 800 million dollars" He said, explaining his views on the landscape of modern animation. "Developing something new has become difficult over the years, and the development process has become an absolute nightmare. So it is...I know how to do all the work of animation, so I'm just going to sit down and do this.

While he is sure he can finish the series on his own if necessary, Kopp's ambition is to prove that animation production doesn't have to be as difficult as the industry, and that a small team of well-paid workers can produce high-quality, popular animations.

"We want to do it like eight more episodes, so it's a total of 16 cartoons," he explained. "If I hired another couple of layout guys and storyboard artists, we would top these guys dollars like the best mark on the union scale"
