Unconfirmed: Comedy Central's "Ren & Stimpy" reboot is in the works

Comedy Central's "Ren & Stimpy" reboot may not happen after all.

News that the show has been shelved on Comedy Central was reported this evening by Robin Byrd, who accused "Ren & Stimpy" creator John Crickfalusi of abusing her when she was a minor. She wrote on her Twitter page: "Confirmed from multiple sources: reboot of Ren & Stimpy = shelved!"

"Multiple sources confirm: Len & Stimpy reboot = shelved!"

Thanks to millions!

Thanks to the millions who signed my petition, wrote articles, and most importantly, made a big deal about this on Twitter!????

We have contacted ViacomCBS for further clarification on the status of the project but have not heard back. We will update the article as soon as we receive a response from the company.

When the R&S reboot was first announced, Bird launched a petition asking ViacomCBS to change its policy, but it is unclear if the company's decision is related to that petition.

Bird argued that even if creator John Crickfalsh would not be involved in the reboot, the revival would bring him back into the spotlight. The man used "Ren & Stimpy" to lure young people into the studio, give them confidence, only to abuse them, stunt their careers, and sexually abuse young girls. He will do it all over again."

This is not the first time someone has claimed that the revival has been shelved. Earlier this month, Bob Camp, a key creative force behind the series and later the show's producer, also wrote on Facebook that the show had been shelved.

It remains to be seen if these reports are accurate, as there has been no clear comment from ViacomCBS.
