Paramount Developing Live Action/CGI Hybrid “Rugrats” Feature Film

Paramount will revive Nickelodeon's hit 90s series “Rugrats” as a hybrid live-action and CG feature.

Jason Moore, creator of the feature film “Pitch Perfect” and Broadway's “Shrek the Musical,” will direct. The screenplay will be written by “Saturday Night Live” writers Mikey Day and Streeter Seidel.

Karen Rosenfelt, who produced the hybrid film “Yogi Bear” and multiple “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” is on board as producer. Arlene Klasky and Gabor Chupor, who produced the original series with Paul Germain, are also on board as producers.

The news media outlet Deadline, which first reported the story, did not indicate which parts of the film will be animated and which will be live action, so it is not known if Tommy, Chucky, Phil, or Lil will be animated in the film.
