2020 Daytime Emmy Awards: 44 Nominations for Disney Junior and Disney Channel

The nominations for the 47th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), have been announced.

In the animation nominations, two Disney series based on princesses lead the pack with seven nominations each. One is Disney Junior's "Elena of Avalor," featuring the House of Mouse's first Hispanic princess, which received its eighth nomination for the one-hour special: The Magic Within The series has been nominated for the past two consecutive years. The other is Disney Channel's Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, a spin-off of the 2010 feature film Tangled. This one has also won Daytime Emmys for Individual Achievement in Animation the past two years.The third most nominated film was "The Rocketeer" (5 nominations), which debuted on Disney Junior and Disney Channel in November.The 1991 live-action of the same name The film is loosely based on the movie "The Rocketeers," about a young girl who gains superhero powers to fly with a jetpack.

Disney shows dominate this year's list: in the animation category, Disney Junior has 25 nominations and Disney Channel has 19; Netflix (22) and Amazon Prime Video (14) lead the streaming category. In the animation category, the Peanuts spin-off "Snoopy in Space" (a short program for children) and the live-action "Ghostwriter" (main title and graphic design) are nominated.

There is one animation category for which nominees have not yet been announced: NATAS issued the following statement: "The individual animation category will be judged live by a panel of judges. Due to the ongoing health crisis, entries in this category have not yet been judged. The results of this jury award will be announced at a later date."
