First ever 24-hour Adult Swim Channel launches - but you have to live in Canada to watch!

Canadian media company Corus Entertainment has announced that it will debut the world's first 24-hour broadcast channel, Adult Swim, in Canada on April 1, 2019. It is probably no coincidence that Canada became the second country in the world to legalize marijuana last October.

The new channel will feature original Adult Swim animated and live-action series such as "Rick and Morty," "Robot Chicken," "Tim and Eric's Bedtime Stories," and "The Eric Andre Show," as well as Fox's "Family Guy," Bob's Burgers," and "American Dad," as well as acquired shows such as "American Dad," will air 24 hours of mature comedy content.

The expansion of Adult Swim in Canada is an extension of the long-term partnership between Corus and Turner, which launched Adult Swim in the United States in 2001. The Canadian Adult Swim channel will be similar to its U.S. counterpart in both programming and brand voice. The new series will be available in Canada on the same dates as in the US.

The new channel will be a rebrand of Corus' Action channel. All Adult Swim programming currently on Cartoon Network Canada and Teletoon at Night will move to the new channel, and Cartoon Network Canada and Teletoon will shift their focus to 24-hour family programming.

"We are excited to bring the unique Adult Swim experience to Canadian audiences," said Daniel Eaves, Vice President of Television Networks at Corus Entertainment. Adult Swim will enrich our specialty programming portfolio with unparalleled programming and strengthen Corus' presence as a leader in specialty entertainment in Canada."

Among the projects slated to debut simultaneously on Adult Swim in Canada and the U.S. are a quarter-hour produced by Henry Bonsu and executive produced by Bonsoo, Daniel Weidenfeld (China, IL) and Carl Jones (The Boondocks) Bento Box Entertainment is the studio behind the show.

Due to Warner Media's recent reorganization, Adult Swim (as well as Cartoon Network and Boomerang) will be part of the company's single Global Kids & Young Adults business and will be overseen by Warner Bros. Kevin Tsujihara will oversee the company. Prior to that, these brands operated relatively independently from the company's Atlanta headquarters, a holdover from the network's Turner days.
