TruTV's "Misfits & Monsters" Anthology Series Kicks Off with Scary Anime-Themed Episodes

This week, TruTV launched a new 30-minute anthology series, "Bobcat Goldthwait's Misfits & Monsters," with an episode that mixes live action and animation to eerie effect.

The series' debut episode, "Bubba the Bear," stars Seth Green as a voice actor who begins to question his sanity when his most popular animated creation begins stalking and tormenting him in real life.

This episode features lots of 2D cartoon animation, intended to evoke classic theatrical cartoon characters. A short preview follows:

"Bubba the Bear" character animation was created by Titmouse, with VFX provided by Hey Beautiful Jerk.

Mike Carlo directed the animation for the episode, storyboarded the animated segments, and designed Bubba. He shared a short clip of the animation from the episode on Instagram:
