Disney Announces Opening Title, Premiere of Aaron Springer's "Billy Dilly's Super-Subterranean Summer"

Aaron Springer's "Billy Dilley's Super-Subterranean Summer" will premiere on Disney XD.

Disney also revealed the show's opening title:

Billy Dilley will air multiple times on Saturday, June 3 at 7:00 am, 11:00 am, 2:00 pm, 5:00 pm and 8:30 pm ET, with new episodes available daily through Thursday, June 15.

Starting June 3, the first 10 episodes of the series will also be available on the Disney XD app and the Disney XD VOD platform.

The series follows the adventures of Billy (voiced by Springer himself) and his classmates Zeke (Tom Kenny) and Marsha (Kathryn Wayne), whose summer vacation takes an unexpected turn when they get stuck in a magical world beneath the surface of the earth, and to hold onto the surface Billy's science fair project, Cheeselator, must be repaired.

Springer's past credits include SpongeBob, Samurai Jack, Yonder Over Wonder, and Disney's Mickey Mouse shorts, but as we have noted before, he has also appeared in Adult Swim's Korgoth of Barbaria and Cartoon Network's Periwinkle Around the World, and is known for his projects that never made it past the pilot stage.

Springer is (in my opinion) one of the best pure cartoonists in the L.A. industry, but over the years he has developed a reputation as someone who can do other things, such as writing and directing. It will be interesting to see how well his vision holds up within the constraints of a Disney TV show, but whatever the outcome, this is one kids' show I look forward to checking out.
