'Adventure Time' Crew Reflects on End of Series: 'I Think It's Special'

Cartoon Network announced this week that "Adventure Time" will end production after its ninth season, which is currently in production. New episodes will continue through 2018, with 142 episodes eventually airing.

CN's announcement of the series' end included the following statement from creator Pendleton Ward:

"Adventure Time was a passion project with a staff that put their heart and soul into the art and story. We put something authentic from our own lives into every episode and tried to create a show that was uniquely us and had jokes! We are so happy to have connected with our audience for such a long time. I think this is something special."

But beyond Ward's official statement, Adventure Time crew members past and present took to Twitter to voice their opinions about the series' impending finale. Many of the artists who commented have launched high-profile animation projects on Cartoon Network, including Rebecca Sugar ("Steven Universe") and Patrick McHale ("Over the Garden Wall"). The following is a summary of the staff's impressions and what the show means to them:
