C. H. Greenblatt "not thrilled" with Nick's treatment of "Harvey Beaks

On Tuesday, Nickelodeon's Harvey Beeks staff learned that Nick has shuffled his summer schedule and will suspend all new episodes of the series until at least September.

The news seemed to surprise the show's staff. 'Sorry the channel is running the show so much,' Harvey Beeks writer Shane Horton wrote on his Tumblr. 'Our staff is just as frustrated as yours truly.'

: As usual, the Internet jumped to conclusions, and online viewers began claiming that Nick removed "Harvey Beeks" because of the show's ratings. That may or may not be the case, but so far there is no evidence that this change was directly related to ratings. [However, C.H. Greenblatt, the creator of "Harvey Beeks," posted a note on Tumblr explaining that the schedule change affected more than just his show. Greenblatt wrote the following We have not gone off the air. And we are not the only ones being treated this way. They stopped all first-runs (animated and live action) over the summer except Pig, Goat, Banana, and Cricket. Hopefully, they will re-run them. We should be back with a big push in late summer/early fall.

We are not thrilled about this, but we are still working on the episodes at full speed and promise that they will eventually make it out to the world.

Elsewhere on his Tumblr, Greenblatt said he is not even sure if a rerun of his show will air in its regularly scheduled slot on Nick this Saturday. He wrote to another fan about the show's schedule, saying, " If you mean when it will air on the network, I know very little right now because it tends to change from week to week." In other words, he seems to have no idea how Nickelodeon schedules the shows in which he has invested all of his time and effort.

One of the main reasons artists in the industry avoid bringing their shows to Nick these days is that they feel the network does not respect the creators and does not do enough to ensure the show's success. When show creators have to use Tumblr to communicate with fans about schedule changes that are out of their control, it reinforces the image that the network is not firing on all cylinders.
