June 2022, animation on Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Peacock, etc.

This month, several fan-anticipated series return with new episodes, as well as several exciting new titles and a Buzz Lightyear doc just in time for his solo feature debut.

Netflix is offering one of June's most high-profile new animated features, Hamish Steele's Dead End: Paranormal Park. The show received unexpected attention earlier this month when a group of U.S. Senators asked the TV Parental Guidelines Advisory Board to update its ratings system to include whether a show contains content related to sexual orientation or gender identity. This received an unexpected amount of attention. Their objection is that "Dead End: Paranormal Park" has a transgender protagonist. Nothing like a little free PR.

Disney+ is preparing for the upcoming feature film "Lightyear" by releasing the documentary "Beyond Infinity": the documentary explores the evolution of the character from toy to space ranger. Featuring filmmakers, storytellers, artists, and the voice cast of Lightyear, this special program tells the story of how Buzz's original action figure design was realized and how his appearance was transformed into a human hero years later.

In adult animation, Prime Video's Fairfax returns for a second season, and Freevee (formerly IMDb TV), the free streaming version, will offer season 4 of Corner Gas Animated; HBO Max will bring back "Birdgirl," while the newest episode of the series, "The Birds of Prey," will be available for free on streaming, Paramount+ will launch the streaming feature South Park: The Streaming Wars.

A note on the list: streamers often announce new animated releases mid-month. In this guide, we list only those announced by streamers at the beginning of the month, but whenever possible, we try to update our schedule with mid-month announcements. If you have a U.S. streaming service you would like to see added to our lineup, please leave a comment below.
