Filmmaker Sean Buckeye details the making of his "Lovestreams" short film.
How an animated short film is created from concept to completion -
the process has rarely been documented in as much detail as in the making of filmmaker Sean Buckeye's latest short, "Lovestreams". ("Lovestreams" originally appeared online late last year as part of "Late Night Work Club.")
Backeu delves deeply into his production process, exploring not only insights into his production pipeline, but also the trials and tribulations of making independent animated shorts in general. He also includes production files of his shorts so that other animators can see exactly how he constructed his scenes.
"I feel like it took me a very long time to learn a lot of this stuff," Buckelew explained to Cartoon Brew, "I learned mostly by looking over my friends' shoulders and learning tricks by having me look at their project files. I thought it was valuable for students and people trying to learn animation to be able to dive into a completely unrestricted file and see how it was constructed."
For even more process insights, Bucklew also compiled a behind-the-scenes post on his earlier Calarts experimental program short, "Hopkins & Delaney LLP."
