"Obsolescence In Love" by John Dunleavy

Love's Cliché (The Ballad of Smiley Face) by John Dunleavy is a tale of "a twisted romance between a beloved telephone and a rowdy hand." Using a sideways emoji as a character's face is a smart creative choice that I don't recall ever seeing in a cartoon. But even if it were, the idea is appropriate and perfectly executed in this short. The naughty lyrics and suggestive imagery pack a surprising amount of comedy into the short 90-second running time. Dunleavy is represented by London-based Tandem Films.
