The first trailer for the film "Harold and the Crayon" is a hybrid itself.

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for its hybrid animated and live-action film adaptation of the iconic children's book "Harold and the Purple Crayon," which will be released on August 2. 1]

"Harold and the Purple Crayon" is directed by Oscar nominee Carlos Saldaña, who has a long history of directing animated films, including the "Ice Age" series, "Rio" and "Ferdinand". The film, written by David Guion and Michael Handelman, is based on the 1955 picture book of the same name.

"Harold and the Purple Crayon" was Saldanha's live-action debut and the first time this classic has been made into a feature film.

Sonny's synopsis follows:

Adventurous Harold can bring any object to life simply by drawing in a book. After growing up, Harold finds that he has much to learn about real life after drawing himself out of the pages of a picture book and into the physical world. When unlimited imagination falls into the wrong hands, it will take all of Harold and his friends' creativity to save both the real world and himself.

"Harold and the Purple Crayon" stars Zachary Levi, with Lil' Lil Howery, Benjamin Bottani, Jemaine Clement, Tanya Reynolds, Alfred Molina and Zooey Deschanel.
