Henry Bonce decided to transform his online comic into the latest series of adult swimming "Lazer Wulf".

Adult Swim's latest animated series, Lazor Wulf, is an acid vision of friendship and modern life from an African-American perspective. Created by Heny Bonsu (34) and produced by Bento Box studios in Los Angeles (pre-production) and Atlanta (animation), this show is unique in that

while riding his bike, chatting with comic brew over the phone, Bonsu said the show was a great opportunity for him to publish on his personal Tumblr. Its first iteration as a comic strip was created three years ago by the pilot, and earlier this month the first episode finally debuted.

The title character, Lazor Wulf, first appeared as a joke between Bonsu and a couple of his friends, based on satirical Amazon reviews and memes around the Three Wolf Moon t-shirt that made waves online a few years ago. Bonce began to draw a story focused on a wolf with a laser on his back, whose best friend was part of Hamm.

"I always change the design of the characters mainly because I get bored, but even in my mind, when you're making new things that no one knows, you felt like you were making fan art just for yourself, fan art of things that aren't mainstream yet," Bonsu told Cartoon Brew. Once the adult swimmer picked up Lazor Wulf, he tried to carry much of that energy to reinvent it into comics.

According to Bonsu, one of the random elements that makes the world of Lazor Wulf unique is its support cast.1 The main character Lazor Wulf is only familiar with unicorns, and there are stupid horses that exist because they can not understand the concept of horses. Then there is a huge floating head like a god who is constantly shouting "Damn it.""It may sound strange, but it's logical within this realm.

"The inhabitants of the town are not necessarily shocked that God may float to interact, but at the same time the family of wolves, the yeti, all these elements are not strange to them. There's nothing really weird about them, and that's what makes the world interesting," Bonsu explained.

Uniquely, Lazor Wulf features a predominantly black-voiced cast, which is still unusual in animation. The voice cast is led by rapper Vince Staples, who is also an executive producer along with Bonce, Daniel Weidenfeld (China, Illinois) and Carl Jones (Boondocks), and includes DRAM, Ettore Ewen (a.k.a. Big E), Quinta Brunson, Judnick Mayard, and Andre. Pascoe, Reginald VelJohnson, J.D.Witherspoon also stars. "For me, I come in with a black perspective," Bonsu said. "So it was honestly amazing to work with so many talented black people. It makes the show different.

Lazor Wulf premiered in Adult Swim in 2019/4/7, with a new episode airing Sunday night in Adult Swim.
