Interactive Version of Cartoon Network's Iconic Artist's Stairwell Comes Online

Cartoon Network Studios (CNS) today launched CNStudiosStairwell.com, a new website dedicated to preserving the iconic art-filled stairwell of the former Downtown Burbank Studios.

The building was home to CNS from 2000 until last year, when it moved to Warner Bros. Discovery's new Second Century Development (in South Burbank, near Warner Bros.' main site).

The effort to digitally preserve the stairwell was led by CNS executive producer Calvin Wong ("We Baby Bears"). The company elaborated on the project in a press release:

The space was a living testament to the collective creativity of the studio, with everyone from artists to accountants and everyone in between leaving their own mark on the walls in the form of drawings, doodles and sketches. ...... (omitted) Every inch of the stairwell was carefully scanned and photographed. As a result, an interactive website was created to present a "fly-through" 3D tour of the space, allowing animation fans to explore all the artwork. CNS artists past and present who contributed to the stairwell can also contribute to the site by posting annotations to their work via a special link on the page. [Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, said, "Cartoon Network Studios has always been a home for creators. It is a pleasure to honor this beloved space so that the animation community can continue to enjoy and be inspired as we further develop its legacy in our new building."
