August will be a month of major animated features, series, and specials available on streaming platforms.

Theatrical releases streaming this month include Pixar's "Lightyear,"

NBCUniversal/Illumination's "Minions": no exact release date yet, but still dominating the box office, "The Rise of Gru" is set for an August The film will be released on Peacock. Late last year, the streaming service announced that all DreamWorks and Illumination films would be available 45 days after their theatrical release, so the latest Minions film will likely hit the platform in mid-August.

Films streaming directly in August include the Netflix limited series "Lost Ollie," from creator Shannon Tindle and director Peter Ramsey, and "Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie". New episodes of "The Cuphead Show" will also be available, as well as the first of two "Fullmetal Alchemist" feature films.

Apple TV+ will begin distributing "Luck," its first animated feature produced in collaboration with Skydance Animation, on August 5. Meanwhile, Paramount+ continues to up its animation game by adding a reboot of the "Beavis and Butt-Head" series and season 3 of "Star Trek: Lower Decks."
