Rising from the Ashes of Primal Screen, the New Atlanta-Based Space Monster Studio

Three former creative directors of Atlanta-based Primal Screen Studios have formed a new local animation company, Space Monster Studios.

Former creative directors Donald Emerson, Joe Kubeshesky, and Rob Schepps of Primal Screen have combined their 20+ years of animation experience to fill the creative void left behind and launch Space Monster Studios They decided to launch Primal Screen. When Primal Screen closed, we knew we had something good on our hands, and we wanted to take it to the next level,” Emerson said in a press release.

The abrupt closing of Primal Screen Studios in April of this year wiped out a local animation industry heavyweight known for producing on-air branding for networks like Cartoon Network, Sprout, and PBS Kids for 30 years.

The three remained in Atlanta to launch this venture, which specializes in animation and motion design. They plan to hire locally from “a solid network of talented artists and producers.”
