Breaking News: "Bojack Horseman" Crew Wins Unionization with Animation Union

After months of negotiations, the production crew of Netflix's "Bojack Horseman" has won the battle to form a union.

The crew that produces the show voted overwhelmingly in favor of ratifying a union contract today. They will now be represented by the Animation Guild (TAG) and covered under a union contract with their employer, Shadow Machine, the Los Angeles studio that produces the series.

The gains include establishing a minimum wage and securing employer-paid medical and retirement benefits.

"This contract would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the 'Bojack Horseman' bargaining committee," TAG Business Representative Jason McLeod said in a statement. 'This crew was organized, determined, and showed determination and solidarity throughout the process.' We congratulate the crew on this outcome and are pleased that this successful program will be a union production in the future."

The crew was also awarded the "Best of the Best" award, which was presented by the TAG Business Representative, Jason McLeod, in a statement.

The show, produced by Shadow Machine for Michael Eisner's Tornante Company, is currently in its sixth season. Last month, Cartoon Brew highlighted the crew's efforts to unionize the show and enjoy the same wages and benefits that other Los Angeles artists receive in union-covered productions.
