NFB iPhone App

Well, how quickly times change. A few years ago, while doing research for my book Cartoon Modern, I traveled to Montreal to see the NFB short film The Romance of Transportation. Now I can watch it for free right on my iPhone.

If you have an iPhone, be sure to check out the newly released NFB iPhone app. Richard Condie's The Big Snit, Norman McLaren's Begone Dull Care, Caroline Leaf's The Street, Ryan Larkin's Street Musique, Gerald Potterton's My Financial Career," Peter Foldes' "Hunger," and, of course, Colin Roe's "The Romance of Transportation," among dozens of other classic animated shorts from the NFB. More recent works like Chris Landreth's "Ryan" and Theo Ushev's "Tower Bawher" are also included.

The app is a bit rough around the edges, but it has good intentions and offers great content! One of the app's nicest features is the "watch later" option, which allows you to pre-download movies and watch them offline for up to 24 hours.
